MS Speech and Debate Tournament

Des Moines East HS is proud to announce the DM East Middle School Invitational, to be held on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 at DM East High School.  This is our second MS tournament and we hope that you will consider joining us – all schools are welcome! 

Junior High / Middle School programs have been growing in the state of Iowa for many years, due largely to the efforts put forth by Tim Sheaff of Dowling Catholic High School.  As the number of interested schools has grown, so has the desire for more opportunities for participation in speech/debate activities. 

This year, MS students will have two opportunities to compete in interscholastic speech/debate activities, as follows:

 ü  DM East hosting May 7^th – main contact is Jennifer Medina

 ü  Bettendorf hosting May 14^th – main contact is Joe Rankin

Jennifer and I have worked together to ensure both events are as seamlessly integrated as possible to offer students two excellent opportunities to compete.  We will offer the same events, same topics, and have the same fees – all to help ensure the maximum number of students can compete.
